I’ve listened to almost 2000 podcast episodes
I started listening to podcasts when I was in Japan around 2017.
My podcast player of choice has been Podcast Republic on Android phone.
I just exported my data as a backup, and tried to check it.
It was a SQLITE database format. So I downloaded a Sqlite editor for Windows, and exported the episode info table and play history table to CSV. I imported those into Excel. Then I used VLOOKUP to match the ids from play history (indicating 1923 episodes listened to) with the full episode list (almost 30,000 rows, which seems to list out the full episode catalogue of every podcast I ever subscribed to or viewed.)
So now I have a list of every podcast episode I’ve listened to in the app, since summer of 2018, complete with links and descriptions.
I don’t know how useful this data would be. I have been considering moving to another podcast app like SnipD which lets you “highlight” audio snippets from a podcast and get a transcription of that segment into Readwise. One thing that has been holding me back was losing or disconnecting from the data of my played history within Podcast Republic. Now I don’t have to worry about that any more. It’s an obsessive-compulsive thing, this data hoarding.
