PP2 - Day 1
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Tony Robbins has an audio program called Personal Power II. It’s a bit dated, but still comes highly recommended on the Charlie & Ben Podcast. I’ll be sharing my notes and takeaways.
  • The purpose of the program is to use science-based principles to condition yourself for achieving success.
  • One of two experiences that drive people to succeed: inspiration or desperation.
  • Get excited rather than frustrated about dissatisfaction. Because unless you’re dissatisfied with your life, there would be no incentive to change it. If you were totally satisfied, you’ll get comfortable, and your life will deterioarate.
  • If you want anything in life, you have to turn it into a study: whether it’s happiness, success, relationships, wealth, or health. You can't hope that things will just turn out okay.
  • Repetition is the mother of skill.
  • What changes your life is not learning more. What changes your life is making decisions and using your personal power and taking action.
  • Power is defined as the ability to act.

4 Steps to Success

  1. Know your outcome.
      • The more clear you are on what you want, the more you empower your brain to come up with answers.
      • Clarity is power.
      • Make a habit of asking yourself "What's my outcome?"
  1. Decide. You have to use your power.
      • Want to get to the point of making decisions quickly and easily and following through on them (by starting small, and building everyday).
  1. Notice what is or isn't working.
      • Most successful people are successful because they fail more than most other people.
  1. If what you're doing is not working, change your approach. Keep changing until you succeed.

  • Role-modeling accelerates the pace of your success. Find somehow who is already achieving the results that you want.
  • Knowledge is not power. It's potential power.
    • Knowledge is not enough. Have to follow through.
  • Make failure your best friend. Welcome frustration. Let it create excitement.
  • Negative emotions can drive us to success.
  • Don't fall for the trap of becoming complacent when you're successful.
  • When people are successful, they tend to party. When they fail, they tend to ponder. Through the pondering, we can come up with the greatest successes of our life.
  • It's impossible to fail. As long as you learn something, you've succeeded.

The assignment was to do 2 tasks that I’ve been putting off, right now. I had 3-4 email drafts saved and sitting for weeks. I finished and sent them off. Then I did a VR body workout.

I fear I won’t keep up the pace, and will stop midway through, as I do for most self-paced courses I’ve started. But I am dissatisfied with my life, and I’m excited to make some big changes.
