Won $100 in video game race
There was a big event in VulcanVerse today. Several quests were hosted for a charity.
One quest was a race through an obstacle course that someone had built on their land. I practiced running through it with my avatar a couple days before. There was a bit of a delay as people were gathering, so some of us had the chance to do a few more test runs. The event was livestreamed on Twitch.
The countdown was initiated, and I took off with a good start. There was one guy ahead of me. He took a big lead when I fell down at a tricky part that needed hopping across. I made it across on my second try. But I couldn’t catch up. I ended up taking 2nd place, which had a prize of game cryptocurrency worth about $100. Watching the video of the 1st place, it seems he discovered a few shortcuts that shaved seconds off the timer. Even if I had run it perfectly, I still wouldn’t have beaten him.
Next, I entered a huge maze that someone else had built. It was opened at the same time as the race, but because the race was delayed, I couldn’t be one of the winners to place in maze. I eventually completed it. I decided to map it out because it was so confusing. I set up a grid in Adobe Illustrator and filled in the walls line by line as I explored the maze. It’s incomplete since I found the ending without having to explore every nook and cranny. I need some cartography skills. As lands get leveled up in the game, there will be more space to build, and more complex mazes to master.
