Small communities
I’m really starting to crave more human connection. I miss being in university and hanging out with friends for hours in the Japanese study club I helped start. Last week, I started a morning accountability focus session group with strangers on Reddit. And tonight I started hosting Zoom meetups for my improv classmates, so we can get to know each other better outside of class, and also practice what we’ve been learning.
This is in addition to the book club meetings I hold Sunday mornings, and weekly review sessions for my paid community on Sunday evenings. One of my abilities seems to be creating or leading these kinds of small groups. It’s like I have a power to create communities around any interest that I have, in order to broaden my perspectives and learn from others, and receive motivation to continue in it. It’s just about committing my time to it, and then reaching out to others who may be interested.
I think it’s fair to say I’ve made more friends online than in real life. This is definitely true for the past 2 years. The key question is whether this can be a good method for finding a girlfriend...
